The geology data model is the basis for the geological vector data sets of Switzerland. It uniformly structures and harmonizes all data of swisstopo’s geological maps nationwide.
A newly revised Version 3.0 of the «Data Model Geology» is now available, substituting Version 2.1 from 2012. In addition to revision of text and attribute tables, a new completely numeric GeolCode replaces the alphanumeric GeolCode used until now. The comprehensive tables of Lithology, Chronostratigraphy and Tectonic Units (1st part) were harmonized on a national level (see strati.ch). The table Lithostratigraphic Units and the second part of the table Tectonic Units are under revision.
